Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague

The owner and operator of the St. Christopher Guest House is Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague. Profits from guesthouse operations are used to fulfil its primary mission – to assist those in need, in accordance with the organisation’s statutes and the law.

Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation founded by the Archbishop of Prague. Helping the needy is an integral part of Christian ethical values. Caritas provides a whole range of social and health services for seniors, handicapped people, single mothers and their children, the homeless, refugees, victims of domestic violence and human trafficking, and people who have found themselves in burdening life situations or on the margin of society. Among its most significant activities are development cooperation and humanitarian aid in the poorest countries of the world, primarily in sub-Saharan Africa (Uganda, Zambia, Democratic Republic of the Congo) and in India; the Prague branch of Caritas is also active in Belarus as part of its development and transformation cooperation.

Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague is part of Caritas Internationalis, a global confederation of 162 national Catholic charities that operate in virtually every country in the world. Caritas is one of the largest international networks devoted to the elimination of poverty and promoting justice in society.
